ISOA Parts Recon Mission

Sometimes the most spontaneous of actions produces the most surprising results. This is what happened on Saturday December 21st. Pat Lobdell had been in contact with Dave Hamilton the new owner of Brit Parts and arranged a visit for ISOA. We had a small story about Dave in the December Snic Braaapp.

While a few days right before Christmas was not available for most of the ISOA membership, some of us were able to escape from the holiday grind and take a detour to find some Triumph parts. For a few of us, Christmas arrived a few days early.

Pat "Power Bulge" Lobdell, Joe "Jellybelly" Kaplon, Pete "Music Man" Conover, Irv "Elwood" Korey, Ernie "Evil Bert" Husmann, Tim "Gizmo" Mantel and the Stagmeister met for breakfast Saturday morning in Chesterton Indiana. Even if we didn't get to the parts place, having breakfast with the guys was worth the drive. Anyway, we filled up on coffee and pushed our cholesterol counts a few points higher before heading off to Brit Parts.

I was looking for a specific item, one that Pat had spotted on a previous visit. A single rail, J-Type overdrive Spitfire transmission, this had my name all over it (destined to have Sandy's name all over it). As a bonus if I could find a trunk lid and some other Spit parts, the trip would be worth it. To make a long story short, I did find everything I was looking for and obtained them for a very reasonable cost. I was happy.

Everyone else seemed to locate some needed items as well. There were many other smiles and no one felt it was a waste of time. Dave is still in the process of sorting all the used parts out, so searching for what you needed always produced a new discovery. This was half the fun looking through all the bits. We will plan on a return trip in the spring, so when we firm up a date, we will definitely let everyone know. Even if I don't need anything specific, a Saturday morning breakfast with ISOA buddies is just a great way to spend some time. Give Dave a call if you are looking for anything in particular.
